Summary...

So Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday saw us recruiting some (hopefully) eager new members. Dont worry if you didnt get a chance to talk to us because we are having a Launch Night on the 29th of September to give a more comprehensive overview of what STAR has to offer.

In the meantime hope you enjoyed what our stall had on offer.  And sorry if you missed it!

Welcome Week 1

ESSENTIAL info for anyone wanting to be part of STAR! actually for anyone full stop.

A beautiful bowl of free stickers! I think only about 3 people took one over 3 days. Woohoo!

Christina (chair) at the stall, waiting for the chance to snatch up an unsuspecting victim and convince them that they definitely have a passion for STAR... see you at the Launch Night!

S.T.A.R. is a national, student-led organisation which facilitates volunteering opportunities (for both students and refugees/asylum seekers), action and fundraising in aid of those in need of refuge in the UK.

We are the Manchester branch of S.T.A.R.

We co-ordinate and are involved in English speaking lessons with refugees on Saturdays and the S.U.

We cook food and help out with a night shelter in the winter months for destitute asylum seekers at Brunswick Parish Church. Unfortunately only boys can stay the night, but they are badly needed so get in touch!

What is says on the tin
We campaign and fundraise for the national S.T.A.R. organisation. Last year we organised a sleep out on the union steps as part of the STILL HUMAN STILL HERE campaign. Two MPs joined us for the night, showing us that support is there for the cause we are advocating about.

So get involved!
